The Gig Harbor boys basketball team beat the Wilson Rams 55-48 in both team’s Narrows League opener.
The Tides led most of the game until the Rams went on a 13-0 run and went ahead 43-42 with 5:22 showing in the fourth quarter. But a key defensive block by Gig Harbor’s Austin Seferian Jenkins with 2:01 remaining allowed the Tides to regain the momentum and hold on for the victory.
“Win or lose, we’ve got to analzye then flush,” Gig Harbor coach Tom Adams said about the emotional and physical style of the game. “We don’t have time enjoy a win and we don‘t have time to sulk after a loss. I’m hoping the kids saw what worked and the formula for success. It was a nice first step.”
Gig Harbor is 2-0 overall, 1-0 League. For a complete story, read the Dec. 9 edition of The Peninsula Gateway.
